Balmain Spring Summer 2017: Recasting The Signatures

Known For Its Over The Top And Body Conscious Outfits, The House Of Balmain Chose To Abandon Its Signature Style For Sexy Athleisure At Balmain Spring Summer 2017.

What ‘model off duty’ is to Alexander Wang, bodycon is to the house of Balmain.

Short and tight dresses grazing the thighs and bums of the models, done in Swarovski crystal and carrying highly padded shoulders have been a part of Balmain’s legacy since 2006.

In fact, that’s what got the brand back on the fashion runway radar when the previous creative director of the label Christophe Decarnin took over the reins.

But the 30 year old Olivier Rousteing, who has been leading the fashion house since 2011 and is himself known for couture grade embroidery and body hugging outfits, abandoned his signature style in the Balmain spring summer 2017 collection for more athletic and softer outfits.

It’s not to say that you’ll not see bodycons.

But you’ll find fewer bandage dresses and no outfits with the Balmain style embroidery, crystals, beading and threadwork.

It was sexy athleisure put at display.

2017 spring summer assemblage got us duster coats, leotards, leggings, kimono tops and the outfits cut out of the metallic chainmail fabric.

Rousteing, unlike his mentor and predecessor Christophe, is an instagram star – has some 4.3 million followers, has A – list celebrities in his squad and is known for a star studded front row.

The year 2016 was huge for Rousteing. The H&M collaboration, Kayne West partnering with Balmain for its Fall Winter 2016 ad campaign and Balmain being bought by Mayhoola for Investments, an investment group, were the milestones making 2016 fabulous for Balmain.

Well we need to say that, the year 2017 might turn out even grander!

Rousteing is all geared up to serve his fans with his newest baby – the Balmain accessories which will include shoes, boots and bags.

Launched on 21st January 2017, these will be available in boutiques in June 2017.

Have a look at some of the inevitable spring summer 2017 trends seen in Balmain spring summer 2017 collection.

1) Outfits Showing Off Underboobs

She lead the show and was made to fit in a leotard, layered under a duster coat, that was paired with leggings and a skirt.

The leotard was cut out in a way that revealed the sexiest area the fashion pros are focusing on this season – the underboobs.

In fact, most of the bodices that made the Balmain spring summer 2017 collection got forth various ways in which women can flaunt their underboobs.

Wanna make it look even sexier?

Well you can give in to the idea of getting your underboobs inked – much like Rihanna’s Goddess Iris and Cara Delevingne’s writing underboob tattoo that says ‘ don’t worry, be happy’.

2) Athleisure Continues To Rule Ready To Wear

No bandage dresses, no embellished outfits. It was body conscious done differently – with a much casual touch.

The assemblage was about knits, leggings, snake-skin jaquard jackets, duster coats that grazed the floor, long skirts, tunics and wide trousers with thigh high slits.

The signature safari palette got richer. The collection was done in colors such as caramel, rich brown, khakhi, red, black and gold that smeared the snakeskin prints and the knits.

3) Thigh High Split Dresses Make Up The Evening Wear

Long skirts, wide pants, one pieces – almost everything carried the thigh high splits.

Thigh high split on either one of thighs, as seen in few of the long skirts and pants or both the thighs prevailed.

4) Chainmail Dresses Are The Spring Summer Trend

Outfits cut out of the metallic chainmail fabric is one of the quintessential trends for women fashion in spring summer 2017.
